    Student Belongings Pick Up Information

    June 2, 2020

    Dear Leschi Families,

The district is allowing teachers to come into the building to bag up student belongings on June 8 and 9, which will allow you to come collect your children’s belongings on June 10 and 11. In order to keep this process safe and efficient for everyone, we are asking that you follow the schedule below to pick up your child’s belongings. If you have multiple children, please come at the time that your youngest is scheduled to pick up.

We will have items bagged for you when you arrive. We will have a “drive-through” process on the upper playground area. Simply pull your vehicle into the gate on the north end of the building, and hold up a piece of paper with your child(ren)’s name and teacher written on it in large letters, and a staff member will bring you your child’s belongings and pass them to you through your car window.

You may also walk up to this area as well and tell us your child’s name and teacher/volunteer will hand you their bag (1 person per family). We will not have anyone enter the building. If you think your child has left something in another part of the building, you may let your child’s teacher know by June 5, so they can include this in their bag.

In addition, if you have any Library books or musical instruments please return them on these days as well.

    Wed June 10 & Thurs June 11

    8-10am - Kindergarten and 1st grade
    10:30-12:30 - 2nd and 3rd grade
    12:45-2:45 - 4th and 5th grade

The following week, teachers are allotted a day to come clean out their classrooms. They will also follow a schedule for this to allow for social distancing. Please be aware that the schedules on the week of June 8 and the week of June 15, may cause some disruption to your class’ regularly scheduled meetings.

Summer School information was sent out to SPS families last week. Summer Staircase will take place from July 6 – August 7. You should be receiving applications to participate this week. If your child needs some additional support to reach grade level standards, their teacher will be in touch with you about additional options for summer learning. You can learn more at the district’s Summer of Learning website: . I really encourage all our students to participate in summer learning opportunities. Students experience “summer slide,” losing ground when they are not involved in some type of learning during summer months. Educators are even more concerned about this during this time of uncertainty and non- conventional learning.

Information being passed on by St. Mary's food bank in the Central District. This food bank has lots of quality grocery items to distribute including poultry, fish, beef, fresh produce (including a variety of berries), eggs, dairy (cheeses, yogurt, milk, ice cream); and bakery goods. There's a decent selection of organic items. I know that many food banks are running low on supplies, and St. Mary's is well-stocked for now. The hours for food distribution are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am-1pm. The food bank is located at 611 20th Avenue South. More info can be found
